In this presentation, we will examine the socio-emotional lives of boys. I will also share how nurture and culture often creates a false vision of manhood and the challenges to becoming a man today. The presentation will include the latest trends, research and strategies for helping boys become capable, courageous and compassionate men.

In this workshop participants will explore essential elements that are necessary for helping students overcome obstacles as they develop a winning growth mindset and love of learning. I will also share best practices and a framework for participants to evaluate and improve the experience students have in their classrooms and in other areas of school life.

A coach’s effectiveness can not be measured using a scoreboard. When we get it right, we change lives by creating a transformative experience for our players AND their families. Unfortunately, there are too many examples of coaches who lose boys while trying to win games. Coaches have become increasingly important in raising boys today; especially when it comes to working with fatherless boys. In this presentation, I will share the latest research and best practices for engaging, motivating and empowering male athletes. Participants will learn what every boy needs to thrive and ways to help young men create a winning mindset that extends beyond the playing field.

Mr. Troy Kemp, is the former Executive Director of the National Center for the Development of Boys. Troy also has over 25 years of experience serving as a teacher, coach, dormitory parent, and administrator at an all boys day and boarding school in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
