Web Wise Kids is committed to preparing children, teens, and adults to make wise choices when using the Internet. Today's technology provides us with wonderful and amazing opportunities for good, but it can also allow unwelcome and even dangerous people to interact with us and our children.
In 2001, the United States Department of Justice estimated that 20% of children have received a sexual solicitation online. This number continues to increase as more and more children obtain Internet access in their homes and schools.
Merely knowing how to navigate the Internet, email, and chat rooms does not guarantee that a child is prepared to resist the advances of a child predator. Web Wise Kids is taking a pro-active approach against child predators through preventative measures--by teaching children Internet safety skills--before they become yet another terrible statistic.
Web Wise Kids works with teachers, law enforcement officers, community groups, and after-school program leaders to educate children in computer labs across the United States. Though most of our prevention programs are designed for classroom use, we also offer a family version of our flagship program, MISSING and the Cybercops series.
