Todd Whitthorne is much more than a health speaker. He currently serves as president and chief executive officer of Cooper Concepts, Inc, a division of Cooper Aerobics Center in Dallas. Because of the environment in which he works, Todd is able to continuously expand his already vast knowledge of health and wellness to enrich his presentations and inspire his audiences.
Todd is actively engaged in a number of organizations.
He is the chairman of the Our Kids' Health Foundation, a nonprofit which serves to help reduce physical inactivity and obesity among children in Texas. Todd is also a member of the International Association for Worksite Health Promotion (IAWHP) and the American College of Sports Medicine. For eight years Todd was the executive producer and host of Healthy Living with Dr. Ken Cooper, a nationally syndicated weekly radio program heard in 42 cities across the United States as well as online.
After receiving a bachelors of science in kinesiology with an emphasis in exercise physiology from UCLA, Todd jumped feet first into a broadcasting career that took him from Washington D.C. to Phoenix and Dallas. He won multiple awards including an Emmy and a Katie while working at the ABC affiliate in Dallas. Todd still stays involved in television and since 2005 has served as the television host for the Dallas Marathon and the Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot.
On a personal level, Todd enjoys most outdoor activities including completing multiple marathons, half-marathons, and sprint triathlons. He lives in Coppell, Texas with his wife, Kathy. They have two grown children; Lauren and Andrew, both of whom live in Texas.
The brain is the most complicated and metabolically active organ in the body. New research shows there are now plenty of things we can do to make sure that our brain doesn’t wear out before our body does. Todd explains in simple terms the steps we can all embrace to help “sharpen the saw” and reduce the odds of Alzheimer’s, depression, ADD-ADHD, etc.
If you eat a healthy diet do you still need to take vitamins and minerals? The answer is yes!, but with hundreds of companies and thousands of choices where do you start? In this presentation Todd helps separate fact from fiction and explains, in very understandable terms, what the scientific research says about supplementation.
“We are what we repeatedly do.” However, there is a big difference between knowing and doing. Healthy habits are essential for improving your odds of living a long and healthy life but the big question is how do we go about changing for good? Todd explains how the science of behavior modification can help you easily develop the skill to make the small changes that will lead to huge benefits.
With the increasing rate of obesity and the escalating cost of health care corporations cannot afford to sit back and wait. In this presentation, Todd explains how employees and employers can (and must) work together to impact not only the waist line, but the bottom-line as well. From reduced medical costs, increased productivity and lower absenteeism, this information can ultimately save your organization hundreds of thousands of dollars.
