Ron Jaworski, known to the world known as JAWS, is a former professional American football quarterback and a notable sports analyst, best known for his long career in the NFL, particularly as the starting quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles. Jaworski's passion for football and his post-playing career contributions to the sport have made him a well-respected figure in both the athletic and media worlds. Growing up in a working-class family in Lackawanna, New York and attending Youngstown State University set the stage for the hard work and grit he brought to life.

NFL Career

Jaworski's professional football career began when he was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in the second round of the 1973 NFL Draft. Although he was initially a backup quarterback with the Rams, it was his time with the Philadelphia Eagles that made him a household name. He was traded to the Eagles in 1977, and it was with Philadelphia that Jaworski truly excelled as a starting quarterback.

He played for the Eagles from 1977 to 1986, earning three Pro Bowl selections during his tenure. He was known for his durability, leadership, and ability to perform in high-pressure situations. One of his most significant achievements came in the 1980 NFL season, when he led the Eagles to Super Bowl XV. Although the Eagles lost to the Oakland Raiders in that game, it was a historic moment for the team, as it marked their first Super Bowl appearance in franchise history. Ron was selected as the NFL MVP in 1980!

Jaworski's career continued with brief stints with the Miami Dolphins (1987) and the Kansas City Chiefs (1988) before he retired from playing in 1990. Over the course of his career, he played in 176 NFL games, accumulating more than 28,000 passing yards and 179 touchdowns. Jaworski's style of play was often described as steady and smart, and he gained a reputation as a tough competitor.

After retiring from playing, Jaworski transitioned into a successful broadcasting career. He owns an exclusive business development company called Business Clubs America as well as operating eight signature golf courses in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware; Back Creek Golf Club, Blue Heron Pines Golf Club, Downingtown Country Club, Honey Run Golf Club, Ramblewood Country Club, RiverWinds Golf and Tennis Club, Running Deer Golf Club and Valleybrook Country Club. His success with business mirrored his career in football where his leadership and commitment to excellence have made him a respected figure.

Aside from his storied history on the football field, Jaws remains committed to civic activity and philanthropy. Ron and his wife Liz created the Jaws Youth Playbook, whose mission is to improve the overall health and wellness of at-risk youth, primarily in the Greater Philadelphia area for over 40 years. They invest in the future of youth through the building of playgrounds and ballfields, providing much needed sports equipment, supporting summer meal programs in underserved communities, prom dress drive and have given away over 600 bikes to well deserving youth through their yearly Holiday Bike Drive! They have raised over $8 million for at-risk youth!

Awards Ron has received the Bert Bell award, presented by the Maxwell Football Club to the NFL player of the year; South Jersey Chamber Pinnacle Award for demonstrating excellence and commitment to local business world; United Way Volunteer of the Year award which is the highest honor bestowed by United Way and was inducted into the New Jesey Hall of Fame.

Ron proudly serves on the boards of the Philadelphia Sports Congress, Cooper Hospital Foundation, Deborah Hospital Foundation, and M&T Bank.
