Biography

Lance Blockley is a Director of Edgar, Dunn & Company, an international consultancy focused on the financial services industry and headquartered in the USA. He has over 25 years experience in senior management and consulting in the UK, USA, Asia and Australia.

He has pioneered use of data to underpin marketing strategy development and market segmentation, and was the creator of the firm's powerful "Slice & Dice" diagnostic tool. Lance's forte is working to provide clients with the business impacts they seek, be that in financial services, telecommunications, consumer or industrial products.

Lance has facilitated strategic planning sessions for the management teams and Boards of Directors of many different corporations across Asia-Pacific.

Following assignments assessing market opportunities, Lance became a Non-Executive Director of the New South Wales Grains Board (NSWGB) in 1999. He is credited with identifying inappropriate manipulation of that organisation's financial accounts by management, leading to the standing down of the previous Managing Director. At the request of his fellow Directors, he took on the role of Interim Managing Director during what was a critical and tumultuous time for the NSWGB. He referred the matter to ICAC in September 2000, and its report of Aug 2003 recommended criminal prosecution of 3 former managers. He negotiated with the NSW Government for an additional 5 years of vesting rights and then negotiated the sale of these rights (and the NSWGB business) to another industry player. Lance has presented on the corporate governance and "whistleblower" issues surrounding the NSWGB case to numerous audiences, including the Annual Convention of the AICD, as it holds significant learnings for Directors and anyone considering such a position.

Lance holds B.A. and M.A. degrees in Natural Sciences from Cambridge University, England and an M.B.A. from IMD, Switzerland. He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and the UK Chartered Management Institute.

How do I book Lance Blockley for my event?

Booking Lance Blockley with Premiere Speakers Bureau is a streamlined 4-step process:
  • Availability Check: Contact us with your event date and budget to verify if your desired speaker is available.

  • Contracting: We issue a contract outlining the fee, cancellation policy, and event expectations.

Why should I partner with Premiere Speakers Bureau rather than contacting speakers directly?

Partnering with Premiere Speakers Bureau provides a comprehensive safety net for your event that direct booking cannot match. PSB has also built a streamlined, fully online process that makes booking a speaker, handling travel and payments extremely easy for anyone looking to plan a speaker led event.

How does Premiere Speakers Bureau's 'Zero Cost Service' model work?

Premiere Speakers Bureau operates on a 'Zero Cost Service' model for event planners. Our services—including research, booking, and logistics—are always free to the client. The speaker covers our commission from their standard honorarium as payment for our role in marketing and managing their engagements.

How are speaker fees structured, and what is typically included?

A speaker's fee typically covers the keynote presentation, a pre-event planning call, and standard customization. Travel expenses are usually billed separately.

What are the standard policies for speaker travel and expenses?

Travel expenses are negotiated during contracting. We generally recommend a flat travel fee for simplicity, though we also offer line-by-line invoicing when preferred. PSB ensures these expenses adhere to professional standards, and our Event Portal allows for easy tracking and invoicing.
