WASHINGTON - The month of May is all about moms. FOX 5 is focusing on a retired army sergeant who has two daughters and one son. The son is a person you may have heard of before -- Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III.
RG3’s mother, Jackie Griffin, sat down with Shawn Yancy for a 1-on-1 interview about what it's like to be the Redskins superstar's mom!
Biography:
Jacqueline “Jackie” Marie Griffin – mother of three, retired Army sergeant and communicator – is known by many as the mother of Heisman trophy winner, #2 overall NFL draft pick and Washington Redskins’ starting quarterback, Robert Griffin III (RG3.)
The Griffin family’s story is one of perseverance and unity. Both Jackie and husband Robert were active military Non-commissioned Officers; they were determined to challenge their children to pursue greatness. But, greatness was not defined as an athletic challenge; although two of the three Griffin children were awarded athletic scholarships to Baylor University and Northwestern State University. In the Griffin household, faith development was essential; education was for their empowerment followed by other pursuits.
Life in the US Army provided a unique environment for the Griffin family to grow.
