Dr. Christopher Motley is a Chiropractic Physician who is certified in Applied Kinesiology, Clinical Kinesiology, Acupuncture, and Craniosacral Therapies as well as specializing in Nutrition and Lab Analysis. Clinical Kinesiology is a diagnostic and therapeutic system that utilizes the body's muscular system to attain neurological information about a patient.
When Dr. Motley founded his own practice nearly a decade ago, he had no idea that it would grow exponentially simply by word of mouth. According to his patients of all ages, this can be attributed to the individualized and intuitive care he gives to each person in addition to his willingness to use his natural talents to benefit others. Dr. Motley's quest for health evolved out of his own personal experiences.
At the age of 6, Dr. Motley initially became intrigued by alternative health practices. In an attempt to avoid prolonged treatments via traditional injections and medications to alleviate allergens, his brother opted for spinal adjustments and muscle therapy. Dr. Motley watched in awe and gradually understood the benefits of using external manual therapy, combined with positive habits to create an internal balance.
Gaining additional insight into kinesiology became increasingly evident to Dr. Motley when he personally suffered a severe neck injury though an automobile accident in his early twenties. After his initial attempts at receiving relief from traditional medicine were unsuccessful, Dr. Motley decided to test kinesiology treatments for himself. Following the third kinesiology treatment, his neck issue was completely resolved.
Shortly thereafter, a new component peaked his interest; brain function. Dr. Motley ventured to address the relationship between neurology and common ailments. As Dr. Motley continued to incorporate the various techniques such as Bio-Systems Integration (BSI), Autonomic Stress and Anxiety Therapy, Neuro-Emotional Technique (NET), Total Body Modification (TBM) and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) he had been taught by leading authorities in the field of kinesiology such as Dr. Milton Dowty D.C., Dr. Chris Astill-Smith D.O., Dr. Howard Loomis Jr. D.C., Dr. Sheldon Deal D.C., NMD, DIBAK, as well as the knowledge he obtained from Austin Peay State University where he received a Bachelor of Science in Biology continuing on to receive a Doctorate of Chiropractic and an additional Bachelor of Human Biology from Logan College of Chiropractic in Chesterfield, Missouri, Dr. Motley still believed there was a missing component in the overall healing process. Pondering where the gap was occurring, Dr. Motley in turn created the RETRACE process which includes Autonomic Stress Therapy alongside the previously mentioned techniques. After he began to see drastic results in patients who were treated in this manner, his desire to empower people to assist in their own healing journey began the process of tangibly educating others.
Therefore, he has created a practical and interesting approach to communicate how attainable self-care is which Dr. Motley proposes will eliminate or greatly reduce the necessity for office visits. Through various forums such as public seminars, association conferences and college health courses where he teaches both Western and Eastern Medicine, Dr. Motley has trained a myriad of individuals from varying backgrounds, ages, and health concerns including, but not limited to, college students, corporate executives, grandparents and even reforming skeptics of alternative medicine.
One of his primary focuses is teaching patients how to care for their particular genetic body type. Additionally, he discusses how anxiety, depression, and nutrition affect a person's overall health. Some of the techniques he imparts as combating these pitfalls are effective physical strengthening, proper breathing, meditation or prayer, eating appropriate foods for individual body types and incorporating spices and herbal components.
Dr. Motley continues to be innovative in his thinking, diligent in research, compassionate with his patients, and effective in communicating proactive strategies to individuals desiring to be healed. Currently, Dr. Motley is researching how plant based enzymes affect the body when enzymatic activities commence and interface with the liver. He theorizes it will have a profoundly positive effect on relieving stress. He is also in the process of becoming certified as an Internal Health Specialist.
There are two prevalent, differing ideas in the arena of health today, the idea of health care vs. sick care. The term health in Webster’s Dictionary is defined as being sound in mind, body, or spirit; the freedom from pain or disease. The health industry today follows the definition closely. It focuses on the symptoms of either the mind or the body, or the spirit, but not all three at once. The version of health in the world today is to cover the symptoms of sickness, but rarely is there an attempt to make a connection between all three levels of the person. Wellness is bringing balance to all three levels. Wellness is a lifelong journey to identify what causes separation between all three levels of life. Sick care focuses on the separated pieces, however health care focuses on bringing unity between them.
Depression and Anxiety both begin with a thought, an idea, an unwritten rule that comes from the habits we learned from our genes and childhoods. How have we learned to view the world, in the past, present, or future tense? Depression is the equivalent of believing you have never or ever will be good enough. Anxiety is worrying if you have ever been or ever will be good enough. When we think negative thoughts by keeping our minds in the future or in the past (but never present), our cells require more food and excrete more waist. As a result, we eat things for the quick fix of energy(processed sugar), and we do not detox properly through a stressed digestive system. This leads to improper production of calming brain chemicals within our digestive tract. We eventually become anxious or depressed because we have been trained to eat the foods that create those feelings. How you have learned as a child, will determine how you eat and think as an adult.
There are 3 main body types in the world. Each body type has the ability to produce certain enzymes(substances that speed up a process or break down food), which gives that body type the ability to remove toxins and cholesterol readily from the blood. Each body type utilizes certain stress organs as it’s first line of defense against stress, namely the adrenals, thyroid, and ovaries. The body type has the capability of removing more toxins and cholesterol from the blood than the other types. There is a normal detox pathway for each body type. Certain foods and nutrition support that detox pathway and some foods prevent it. Nutrition is vital to support the stressed gland of each body type, as well as avoiding the foods that cut the energy from those organs. www.EnzTea.com shows further information on his research
