Alan Schaefer

Alan Schaefer is the Founder & CEO of Banding People Together, a supergroup of scientists, strategists, former C-Suite executives and real life rock stars who help teams & organizations get in the groove, tuning up the soft skills that often get in the way of rock solid results.

He founded Five Star Iris, the band received national airplay, worked with Grammy Award-winning producers, writing with hit songwriters and touring with platinum acts as well as performing in over 16 countries for U.S. troops. But after the band plateaued and ran its course, he became obsessed with answering one burning question:

Why do some bands make it while other bands fail?

This led him to develop Banding People Together’s unique music-centric, data-driven approach to team effectiveness. Already a pioneer in the internet space prior to Five Star Iris, Alan successfully built and sold an online resource that ultimately became part of Yahoo.

Banding's clients include Coca-Cola, NASA, Netflix, Verizon, Cisco, Groupon, Daimler and Hilton. Alan earned a B.S. in Communications from Florida International University and currently calls Encinitas, CA home.
