Break the Script

One of the most dangerous phrases in education today is “because that’s the way we’ve always done it.” It can be heard echoed through the hallways and classrooms of schools across the country. As a result, the recycling of traditional approaches to schooling have isolated, oppressed, and created boredom for so many of our students. What if schools dared to break the script of what schools can do? What if students were addicted to coming to school? Join Adam’s keynote as he shares his journey of how he created a school that kids and staff were excited to come to each day. You’ll walk away with easy to implement ideas and motivation to begin your school’s transformation!

When Kids Lead

Bold. Courageous. Innovative. Thoughtful. All leadership characteristics that we attribute to great adult leaders in our society. It should be unsurprising then that we have children in our classrooms, teams, and clubs with those very same traits. However, oftentimes these virtues go unnoticed or remain hidden. As adults, we have the ability to cultivate, empower, and refine these skills in our children to create powerful young leaders. Learn from Adam ways to build these leaders in your classrooms and schools so that we provide them the opportunities to become even better adult leaders.

Houses for You (K-12)

All schools like to express that they are "a family," but what does that actually look like in a school? As a former teacher and director of school implementation at the Ron Clark Academy, Adam Dovico has helped hundreds of schools build culture inside their building. One of the most popular methods used to build family and togetherness inside of a school is the implementation of "Houses." As seen in Harry Potter, Houses can promote friendship, competition, and positive culture, when done correctly. Adam will explain how you can build Houses inside of your classroom or school and work with participants on bringing back a plan to present to school leadership!

Model Lesson (On-Site Live)

There are many speakers out there who will talk to you about best practices in the classroom, but few who can actually show it off live! Adam has modeled over 500 lessons in real classrooms across the country and internationally. Teachers watch their own students become engaged and excited about learning in a matter of minutes in a high-energy and rigorous environment that Adam creates. Afterwards, it is encouraged to arrange debriefing sessions so that those in attendance can reflect on the lesson and talk with Adam about his teaching.

Suggested time: 30-45 minute lesson + 15 minute debriefing

Suggested grade levels: 2nd-7th

When Kids Lead: An Adult's Guide to Inspiring, Empowering, and Growing Young Leaders

by Dr. Adam Dovico

Kids are capable of doing fantastic things!

It's time for educators--teachers, administrators, parents, mentors, coaches--to think differently about how we prepare students and encourage them to grow as leaders. We can equip students with the tools and skills that will allow them to identify, take on, and solve real-world problems.

Award-winning educators Adam Dovico and Todd Nesloney offer a helpful primer on the importance of student leadership and how to incorporate training for it into education every day. Packed with practical advice and helpful strategies, When Kids Lead is a vital addition to the shelves of K-12 educators, who will find not just a roadmap for training students as leaders but concrete examples of how to facilitate their growth and development in today's school environment. Throughout, Adam and Todd serve as helpful guides, explaining the benefits of leadership training while covering neglected topics, like the importance of discussing--and celebrating--leadership in the classroom and knowing when it's the right time to follow.

"Leaders make mistakes and teach others how to avoid them. Leaders are people who show respect and deserve it. They help you become who you want to be, no matter how good you are at something. They don't take 'no' or 'I can't.' They take 'I can' and 'I will.'"--Finn, age 10

"A true leader cares about the people around them and wants to see others succeed. They will have a passion for a cause bigger than themselves and focus on the well-being of the whole rather than the individual."--Lexi, age 18

"A leader is someone who always encourages others to be the best they can be. They also always hold themselves to high standards, yet they remain understanding and accepting of others. A leader doesn't always realize they are a leader."--Macy, age 16

The Limitless School: Creative Ways to Solve the Culture Puzzleby Dr. Adam Dovico

The Limitless School: Creative Ways to Solve the Culture Puzzle

by Dr. Adam Dovico

You know what's hard? Solving a Rubik's(R) Cube.

You know what's harder? Solving your school's culture puzzle.

Everyone has a school story to tell. As experienced educators, authors Abe Hege and Adam Dovico have heard many of those stories. Unsurprisingly, the tales often revolve around culture: the life-changing relationship formed with a teacher, the harmful effects of bullying, the amazing Friday night crowds at the football game, and so on. Culture is the invisible yet omnipresent and driving force that shapes learning experiences, the community's perceptions, and students' memories--which is why being intentional about creating a positive culture is imperative for your school's success.

The Limitless School identifies the nine pillars that support a positive school culture and explains how each stakeholder--teachers, administrators, students, families, the community, and board members--has a vital role to play in the work of making schools safe, inviting, and dynamic. Unlock the secrets to unlimited possibilities, and start building your Limitless School today!

"Unabashedly student centered and 100 percent inspired, Dovico and Hege share an eclectic blend of stories that will captivate, convict, and have you dreaming bigger for the students you serve."
--Brad Gustafson, author of Renegade Leadership

"Adam and Abe have a unique and powerful lens through which to see education. They are truly an inspiration, and after reading this book, you will definitely agree!
--Kim Bearden, cofounder, Ron Clark Academy and author of Crash Course

"If you want your school culture to exude curiosity, imagination, hope, and love, you must read this book from front to back."
--Salome Thomas-EL, award-winning principal and author
