Porter is an active member of the National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO). She has been one of NAPO's most popular presenters at past conferences, has been nominated for the prestigious "Founders Award," and was selected among her peers to develop and teach NAPO Education Courses PO-001 "Introduction to Professional Organizing" and PO-101 "Starting an Organizing Business." In 2007, Porter was one of the first Professional Organizers in the world to earn the Certified Professional Organizer credential.

A graduate of Middlebury College (Middlebury, Vermont), Porter lives in Bristol, Vermont with her husband and their two sons. She is co-leader of the local PTO, a member of the Addison County Chamber of Commerce; a graduate of the Women's Small Business Program; a member of the Vermont Women Business Owner's Network; past Board member of the Addison County United Way; and past Board president of Middlebury Community Television and the Association of Vermont Recyclers.
