Author, MTV News anchor and interviewer, online movie critic, and former "Rolling Stone" Senior Editor (and current Contributing Editor) Kurt Loder was for 10 years the host and writer of the weekly MTV News show, "The Week in Rock," for which he conducted hundreds of interviews with notable folks ranging from David Bowie, Mick Jagger, Axl Rose and Bruce Springsteen to Iggy Pop, the Ramones and directors Quentin Tarantino and John Waters. He now writes a weekly movie-review column ("Kurt Loder on Film") for the channel's thriving online site, MTV.com, on which he also conducts regular video and written interviews with such filmmakers as George Miller, David Lynch, Darren Aronofsky and David Fincher. He is a member of New York Film Critics Online.
Loder is the writer of the New York Times best-selling Tina Turner autobiography, "I, Tina," and has also published a collection of his Rolling Stone work called "Bat Chain Puller" (recently reissued by Cooper Square Press), and annotated "Rolling Stone Interviews of the Eighties," which contains more of his work for the magazine. Kurt Loder has also freelanced for such publications as "Esquire," "New York" and "Time," and written liner notes for box-set compilations by such acts as Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, the Velvet Underground, the Ramones and Jimi Hendrix. He contributes occasional music reviews for the indie download site, Emusic.com.
A native of New Jersey, Kurt Loder lived and worked for many years in Europe, and now lives in Manhattan. He is currently working on a memoir.
