This Ain't My First Rodeo - A Conversation with Rebekah Gregory

Although the Boston Marathon Bombing was a significant event in Rebekah's life, it wasn't the only adversity she has had to overcome. From an abusive childhood, an illness that nearly took her life in high school, and the life of a single mom, to being held at gunpoint, Rebekah explains in detail how her path thus far prepares her for the road ahead. This is an in depth look behind the scenes of what the camera doesn't capture.

Through the Eyes of a Patient

This speech is a detailed look back on the day of the Boston Marathon bombing, Rebekah's extensive recovery time, and everything that led up to the eventual amputation of her left leg below the knee. With this, Rebekah encourages listeners to look into their own "blow ups" in life, and to decide if they are going to be defeated by their challenges, or use them to become stronger. Rebekah also reviews the role her life has taken since the bombing- including training to run the Boston Marathon on her prosthetic leg, testifying in the trial of the remaining bomber, and her most recent brush with death, resulting in the premature birth of her daughter.

Using Pain to Find Your Purpose

In 2013, Rebekah and her then five-year-old son were three feet away from the first bomb that detonated at the Boston Marathon. Since Rebekah’s son was sitting at her feet, Rebekah’s body acted as a human shield and ultimately spared her son’s life. Rebekah went on to have a grueling recovery, and eventually lost her left leg below the knee.
Instead of being bitter, Rebekah used her struggles as leverage to a greater purpose. She decided to do everything on an artificial leg that she hadn’t done on two real ones, and in 2015, Rebekah returned to the Boston marathon, this time as a runner, and crossed the finish line on here prosthesis.

This speech is a detailed look back on the day of the Boston Marathon bombing, Rebekah's extensive recovery time, and the perspective that she gained from it all. Rebekah encourages listeners to look at their own "blow ups" in life, and to decide if they are going to be defeated by their challenges or use them to become stronger. Rebekah also reviews the role her life has taken since the bombing-testifying in the trial of the remaining bomber, becoming a huge advocate for mental health, and creating her non-profit, Rebekah’s Angels Foundation to provide mental health treatment for children and families suffering from their own trauma.
