EXPERTISE: Attracting and Retaining Clients; Selling

The director of Minneapolis-based Beckwith Partners, Harry Beckwith has worked with 23 Fortune 200 companies, including Target, Wells Fargo, Merck and IBM, work for which he received the American Marketing Association's highest award.

Harry's first book, Selling the Invisible (Warner Books: 1997), spent 36 consecutive months on the Business Week bestseller list and was named one of the top ten business and management books of all time. With total worldwide sales surpassing 650,000 copies in 21 translations, the book is a required text at business schools worldwide.

Harry Beckwith's subsequent books, The Invisible Touch and What Clients Love, have sold over 320,000 copies in 18 languages; his 2003 reading of What Clients Love was named one of 2003's five best business audio books; and You, Inc: The Art of Selling Yourself, released in March 2007, has been named a Book Sense Notable Book--an honor accorded fewer than 10 business-related books each year.

Harry graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Stanford University and later earned his law school's highest honor. Four year after leaving his law practice he was named creative supervisor of Carmichael-Lynch -- the fastest promotion in the history of the firm that Advertising Age has honored four times as America's most creative mid-sized agency.

Harry lives in Minneapolis with his wife Christine Clifford Beckwith and six children. Harry Beckwith serves as a part-time second grade school teacher, member of the Athletic Board of Stanford University, and a participant in Renaissance Weekend, a private gathering of world leaders in business, education, politics and the arts.

The Art of Selling Yourself

Every key moment in business involves a sale, and the first thing great salespeople sell is not their company or their product. It's themselves. But how do you sell yourself? Beginning with a remarkable event that demonstrates "the relationships trumps quality, price, brand--everything!" Harry highlights seven key areas of focus, with implementable suggestions for earning respect before you meet, communicating "stickier" messages, and making every person feel comfortable and important--the two key emotions you must satifying. "Unbelievable," one fan responded--and thousands agree. 50 minutes to two hours.

Selling the Invisible

This customized-to-each client presentation on sales has earned perfect scores from over 92% of audience members worldwide. Using a memorable storytelling style ("humans learn through stories") and examples--Pulp Fiction, the mysterious success of Yahoo!, Why ugly kittens sell like cute puppies, Pablo Picasso, and many Fortune 200 clients and start ups-- Harry demonstrates the four key steps to winning business in a presentation that clients have called "mermerizing," "brilliant" and "electrifying." 50 minutes to four hours.

Why should I partner with Premiere Speakers Bureau rather than contacting speakers directly?

The speaker covers our commission from their standard honorarium as payment for our role in marketing and managing their engagements.

How are speaker fees structured, and what is typically included?

A speaker's fee typically covers the keynote presentation, a pre-event planning call, and standard customization. Travel expenses are usually billed separately.

What are the standard policies for speaker travel and expenses?

Travel expenses are negotiated during contracting. We generally recommend a flat travel fee for simplicity, though we also offer line-by-line invoicing when preferred. PSB ensures these expenses adhere to professional standards, and our Event Portal allows for easy tracking and invoicing.
