Steve was one of the original faces on the Fox News Channel. Hosting Fox & Friends from its beginning, the program has had a storied history in television.
The Fox & Friends show gained influential prominence after the presidential election of Donald Trump, who had been a regular on-air contributor to the program for a number of years before he ran for President. At his first presidential press conference, President Trump called Fox & Friends "the most honest morning show”. During his first year as president, President Trump continued to watch and often quoted the program. This prompted the New York Times to call Fox & Friends "the most powerful TV show in America.
Mediaite named the Fox & Friends program as America’s most influential TV program. They wrote “The President of the United States regularly starts his day watching Fox & Friends and then tweets about whatever they cover, and however, they cover it. He promotes their show, tags them by name, and sings their praises. That alone makes Steve Doocy and” the others “three of the most influential media people not just in the United States, but in the entire world. Since they have captured the President’s attention – which often then gets tweeted and covered by the media – the topics they cover essentially set the national agenda for the rest of the day. That is influence like few other media figures have ever enjoyed.”
Last year, vowing to work only three days a week, Steve took on a new role, as the show’s coast-to-coast host, broadcasting the program from locations across the country. He has relocated from the New York City area to Florida where he is working on his pickleball game.
