Saving Aziz: How the Mission to Help One Became a Calling to Rescue Thousands from the Talibanby Chad Robichaux

Saving Aziz: How the Mission to Help One Became a Calling to Rescue Thousands from the Taliban

by Chad Robichaux

What started as a prayer to save one friend became a mission to rescue more than seventeen thousand souls.

Former Force Recon Marine Chad Robichaux details the incredible rescue missions that evacuated not only his long-time friend and interpreter, Aziz, but also more than 17,000 Afghans and allies who were left in the grip of the Taliban's violent regime as the United States military withdrew from Afghanistan.

During his eight special operation deployments to Afghanistan, Force Recon Marine Chad Robichaux and his friend and Afghan interpreter, Aziz, carried out over a hundred dangerous missions as team members on an elite JSOC (Join Special Operations Command) task force dedicated to capture or kill the highest levels of the Taliban's terrorist regime. During those years, Chad was welcomed into Aziz's growing family, and the two men developed a brotherly bond as they stood against the Taliban's violent oppression.

In April 2021, fourteen years after Robichaux's final deployment, the Biden administration announced that the United States military would end its twenty-year occupation in Afghanistan and would pull its military forces from the country by the twentieth anniversary of 9/11. Immediately, Robichaux knew he had to save Aziz and his family. As he began to organize efforts, he realized a greater need to help more of the Afghan people he had come to know and respect. As the deadline for withdrawal drew near, he formed a coalition of nonprofits called Save Our Allies and created Task Force 6:8, which consisted of twelve former special operations veterans, to evacuate American citizens, green card holders, and special immigration visa (SIV) applicants out of the volatile country. They successfully extracted 12,000 evacuees in a period of ten days and took them to the United Arab Emirates. Then, by partnering with several other nonprofits, they continued to evacuate an average of fifty people per day over the next few weeks so that more than 17,000 were rescued, the largest number for any rescue group and second only to the United States military.

Following those rescue efforts, Robichaux carried out a two-man reconnaissance mission over the span of ten days that provided flight paths across the border into Tajikistan. Operating at night and tracked by the Russian KGB, they successfully evaded capture by the Taliban and Chinese special forces, and were the first on the ground providing real-time intelligence for outside intelligence agencies, which made way for additional evacuations.

Saving Aziz gives the behind-the-scenes view of the evacuation efforts that saved thousands from the Taliban during a historic humanitarian crisis. In this gripping and eye-opening account, Chad Robichaux describes his experiences with the deep, rich, and complex culture of Afghanistan and its people; his direct interactions with those in the Taliban; his perspective on the twenty-year war that took place under four presidents; and his inside view of what happened in Afghanistan during the United States' hasty withdrawal.

Fight for Usby Chad Robichaux

Fight for Us

by Chad Robichaux

Fight for Ustakes couples on an inspiring journey into the challenges of battling for their marriage, through gut-wrenching times of despair, and then finally to the victory of a renewed relationship grounded in Jesus.

Fight for Us delivers a compelling marriage challenge of five rounds that teach readers how to develop the never-give-up, never-quit mentality every relationship needs in order to combat the enemy's constant attacks.

Utilizing narrative elements from the real-life story of Chad and Kathy Robichaux, readers will learn how Chad's deployments to Afghanistan as a Marine--and subsequent career as an MMA fighter--allowed him to disengage from his emotions, his marriage, and his children. Then, when his crippling PTSD brought him to brink of suicide, Kathy's pastor taught him the five rounds of fighting that are necessary in the battle for any marriage:

  1. Believe that God loves you and has a purpose for your life.
  2. Take responsibility for your actions.
  3. Accept that you can't change the evils that you've encountered.
  4. Access God's power.
  5. Put yourself second.

At the end of the rounds, readers will discover God's design for marriage, which saved Chad and Kathy's relationship. Today, they aim to pay it forward and share what they've learned with other couples. Fight for Us features application sections, discussion prompts, affirmations, and Bible verses, all designed to help readers apply the book's key marriage principles.

The Warrior Within

In "The Warrior Within," Chad draws upon his experiences as a former Force Recon Marine, veteran advocate, and humanitarian to deliver a message that is rooted in faith and biblical teachings. He emphasizes that we all have a "warrior" within us, as it says in Ephesians 6:10-18, and that this warrior is not just physical, but spiritual as well.

Chad encourages audiences to cultivate discipline and resilience, just like the soldiers in 2 Timothy 2:3, and to find their purpose in Christ. He reminds us that we are not alone in our battles, as God is always with us, fighting for us and providing us with the strength we need to overcome any obstacle.

Ultimately, Chad's message is one of empowerment through faith, reminding us that we have the power to tap into our spiritual warrior within and face life's challenges with courage and determination. By trusting in God and embracing our inner warrior, we can live a life of purpose and make a positive impact on the world.

Chad emphasizes that fear is a natural response, but we can choose to overcome it by placing our trust in God and focusing on our faith. He encourages us to cultivate a positive mindset and take action in the face of our fears, knowing that God is with us every step of the way. Ultimately, Chad's message is one of empowerment, reminding us that we can face life's challenges with courage and confidence, knowing that we are never alone.
