oday, as we all enjoy the much-needed day off from work, I encourage you to reflect on what this day truly means. Now, I don’t mean to sit back and just be thankful for the veterans who have served, both past and present. I mean to truly dig deep and connect with the true meaning of Veterans Day. Most people confuse Veterans Day with Memorial Day, which is the day in which we pay homage to those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice. However, those who paid the ultimate sacrifice, those who paid for your freedoms with their blood, are veterans as well. The significance and meaning of which has been lost on a lot of people. Being a veteran myself and running a veterans service organization, my unique experiences have shed light on the true meaning of Veterans Day.

To me, Veterans Day is a very special holiday that allows us all to hit the pause button to reflect on the
freedoms that we have. Instead of taking those freedoms for granted, appreciate and celebrate them by paying respect to every man and woman that has dawned a service uniform since the birth of our great nation. Those brave patriots have willingly fought, bled, and often died to preserve our freedoms. That’s what Veterans Day should be about! So, fire up your grills and enjoy the freedoms paid for by those willing to do violence on your behalf! That’s the entire point of freedom, so don’t let it pass you by.

Many of our heroes paid for our freedoms in blood as they sacrificed their lives. The ultimate hero is Jesus Christ. As Jesus died for our sins, our military heroes have died for our freedoms. So today, let’s be joyous as we celebrate our freedoms. While you’re celebrating, don’t forget to take a moment to thank a Veteran for their service. This small gesture has great meaning to our warriors and shows them that they are indeed not fighting alone.

Happy Veterans Day, Warriors!
