Tony Evans
Biography
Dr. Tony Evans is one of the country’s most respected Christian leaders and Bible teachers. He is a pastor, best-selling author and frequent speaker at Bible conferences and seminars throughout the nation. He has been named one of the twelve most effective preachers in the English-speaking world by Baylor University.
Dr. Evans has served as the founding pastor of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship for over 40 years, witnessing its growth from ten people in 1976 to now over 10,000 congregants with over 100 ministries.
Dr. Evans is the founder and president of The Urban Alternative, a national ministry that seeks to restore hope and transform lives through the proclamation and application of the Word of God. His daily radio program, The Alternative with Dr. Tony Evans, broadcasts to millions of active listeners across hundreds of radio stations and digital outlets across the nation and around the world.
Dr. Evans holds the honor of writing and publishing the first full-Bible commentary and study Bible by an African American and is the first African American graduate with a doctoral degree from Dallas Theological Seminary. The study Bible and Commentary went on to sell more than 225,000 in the first year.
Dr. Evans is the chaplain for the Dallas Cowboys. Dr. Evans has published over 150 books, booklets and Bible studies.
Through his local church and national ministry, Dr. Evans has set in motion a kingdom agenda philosophy of ministry that teaches God’s comprehensive rule over every area of life as demonstrated through the individual, family, church and community. This philosophy serves as the core component in the Tony Evans Training Center, an online provider of biblically-based content. The TETC launched in 2017 and has since grown to offer over 70 courses and has over 1,200 enrolled students.
Dr. Tony Evans is married to Dr. Carla Evans, with whom he began a new chapter of love, faith and kingdom purpose in November 2023. He was previously married to Lois, his beloved wife of forty-nine years, who transitioned to glory in late 2019. He is the proud father of four children, thirteen grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
