The world of money is a world of passion, turbulence and personal challenge. The lessons money has to teach us go well beyond the financial. They reach deep into our emotional and even our spiritual lives.
Dr. Susan McCarthy is a twenty-six year veteran of the rough and tumble world of Wall Street. She was recently named by Barron's as one of the "Top 100 Women Financial Advisors" in the United States. But years of advising both institutional and individual clients have made her an insightful and inspiring thinker who gathers spiritual lessons from the business of money. As a writer and speaker, she draws on her on-going practice to recount beautiful tales of courage, love and joy, but also frightening ones of anger and pain. As a businessperson, she is a visionary who believes with great conviction that business can be about more than winning and competition. It can also be about growth, service and compassion.
Susan's clients include global non-profit organizations, private family foundations, school systems, corporate retirement plans, and individual investors throughout the United States. In addition, because she is French speaking, she has been called upon to work with clients overseas seeking exposure to U.S. markets.
Susan is the author of MORE THAN WEALTH, a fascinating collection of stories about people and their money. It chronicles her personal journey through the competitive and masculine world of Wall Street to the realization of the spiritual lessons and grace that money can provide. Her newest book, entitled THE VALUE OF MONEY, is a unique exploration of the intricate connection between our financial and emotional lives. It explores seven basic "Money Types" and provides a roadmap for using a deep awareness of our relationship to money to discover what she calls "The Five Spiritual Lessons Money Can Teach Us".
Before joining the business world, Susan, who holds a PhD in French Language and Literature, spent several years as a university professor. Her work has been enhanced by considerable experience overseas as both a teacher and a businessperson. And best of all, she is the mother of two terrific kids. Susan lives in Oklahoma City.
