In the Future Cars Drive Themselves

The future is now, cars already drive themselves so what does that mean about the possibilities for our students? Technology influences how we live our everyday lives, so it should be a part of the everyday classroom. Students now have technology and Google Apps at their fingertips, let’s embrace these tools and use them in innovative ways to create amazing learning environments for our kids!

Introduction to Google Classroom

If you are using Google Docs with students or thinking you would like to, let me introduce you to Google Classroom. Google Classroom greatly simplifies your workflow by allowing you to easily share assignments and resources with students, and enables students to view and edit Docs and submit homework. Google Classroom helps teachers make the leap to blended learning. You will be up and running in seconds with this easy to use platform. This hands-on session introduces you to what Google Classroom is and how to navigate it to create and grade assignments. Participants will be able to see what Google Classroom looks like from both teacher and student perspective.

Hacking Google Classroom

If you are currently a Google Classroom user, this session will go beyond the basics to show you how to get the MOST out of Google Classroom. You will learn to use Chrome extensions to enhance your use of Google Classroom and dive into using Add Ons and Scripts to hack what you can do with Google Classroom. This practical, hands on, and fun session is a MUST for anyone who wants to take Google Classroom to the next level. Please note: The best device to have for this session is a laptop. Add ons and chrome extensions do not work on a tablet. Tablet users will learn great tips and tricks but many will need to be practiced later on a computer.

A Student-Centered Approach to Using Google Classroom

Sure, Google Classroom allows you to assign work and collect it, but let’s not use new tools in old ways! Technology allows us to rethink how the classroom functions. The person doing the work is the person doing the learning. Help students to have a voice and a choice in their learning. This session goes over strategies for how to shift from a traditional classroom to a student centered classroom when using Google Classroom.
