Biography

Jeremy Stalnecker seeks to help others answer one of the toughest questions we all face, “How do I move forward when my world is falling apart?” Jeremy is the Co-Founder of the Mighty Oaks Foundation (www.mightyoaksprograms.org), dedicated to helping America’s military warriors and their families who are suffering from the unseen wounds of combat such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). In Addition to his current role, Jeremy has served as a Marine Corps Infantry Officer, and as Senior Pastor. He is an accomplished author, inspirational speaker and a frequent guest on some of America's most prominent news networks.

While growing up in San Jacinto, CA, Jeremy’s only goal in life was to leave home and join the Marine Corps. This dream was finally realized with an active duty commission in 1999. Following Infantry Officer Course in Quantico, VA, Jeremy was assigned to First Battalion, Fifth Marines, First Marine Division as an infantry platoon commander. Serving first as a rifle platoon commander in a helicopter company and then as the platoon commander of the counter-mechanized platoon, Jeremy learned valuable leadership and communication skills that he continues to use today. In January 2003, Fifth Marines, as a part of the First Marine Division, deployed to Kuwait in support of what would become Operation Iraqi Freedom. As the war began, First Battalion, Fifth Marines would be the infantry battalion used to breach the berm separating Kuwait and Iraq and would secure the first major objective of the war. This led to a road march that would see the battalion occupying Baghdad and seizing the presidential palace in northern Baghdad on the Tigris River. Throughout this movement, Jeremy and the counter-mechanized platoon would provide navigation and lead security for the battalion.

While in the Marine Corps, God was working in Jeremy’s life to turn his heart toward full-time ministry. Just one month after returning from Iraq, Jeremy became a staff member of his home church at Coastline Baptist in Oceanside, CA. There he gained ministry experience that would equip him for the further leading of God. In his role as an Assistant Pastor, he counseled and mentored many couples and individuals while also maintaining other church responsibilities. It was a great privilege for him to be able to serve in this capacity so close to Camp Pendleton since most of those that he worked with were either Marines or the family members of Marines. In 2008, Jeremy and his family took on a new responsibility when he became the Senior Pastor, just east of San Francisco Bay at Bay Area Baptist Church in Fremont, CA. In this capacity, he continued to minister to families and individuals in a wide range of areas.

After serving in the role of senior pastor for nearly seven years, the door was opened to accept a full-time position with the Mighty Oaks Foundation. This move brought together both his ministry experience and military background in a way that allows him to serve and minister to many hurting veterans, service members and their families. Jeremy has authored five books, hosts two weekly podcasts and speaks across the country on topics related to trauma, the military and culture.   Along with his wife Susanne and their four children, Jeremy works to reach the hurting and provide the healing found in Christ. When not working you will find Jeremy training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu or surfing with his kids or getting ready for the next Ultra Marathon.

Not Broken

Trauma is a topic often reserved for those coming home from military service or others who have been through some of the most difficult situations this life has to offer. The reality, though, is that trauma is not something reserved for only a select few. Trauma is a natural part of the human experience because all of us will be pushed beyond our ability to cope on our own. The real trouble comes when we fail to recognize trauma for what it is and when we lack a clear roadmap for moving beyond it. In this message Jeremy uses his experience working with those who are overcoming trauma to share a clear path forward. Struggling after trauma does not make you unusual, it makes you human! There is no reason to let that trauma define you though if you are willing to follow the path forward walked by many others before you. Don’t let trauma limit what God wants to do in your life.

March or Die

Finding ourselves in a mess can be a hopeless situation filled with regret and an overwhelming sense of loss. We lose time, relationships and a sense of purpose all because of a mess that we may or may not have created. In life, survival alone should not be the goal. When you find yourself in a mess, how you got there is much less important than understanding how to turn that mess into something good. Using the Old Testament story of Elijah on Mt. Carmel, Jeremy explains how, in the midst of an overwhelming mess, we can not only find our own purpose, but help others find theirs as well. A mess is only a mess if you don’t figure out how to redeem it. There is value even in the worst of situations if only we know how to find it!

Run Your Race

Those that find success in their lives understand that life itself is a race! It is a race that requires patience and perseverance because, even though we sometimes treat it like a quick run around the track, it is a marathon that will test even the best of us. In this message, using his experiences running Ultra Marathons and specifically 100 mile Ultra Marathons, Jeremy challenges and motivates the audience to keep pressing forward in the face obstacles and the sometimes overwhelming desire to give up. Applying many of the same tools needed to finish a 100 mile race we will find a level of success we never thought possible. You are running a race that is unique to you-Run it Well!

Leadership By Design

Leadership is often defined based on life experience, background, education, or culture. What looks like leadership to one may look like dictatorship to another. Some would say that leaders are always "type A", while others believe in a passive approach. In many ways, this is why learning to lead or regaining the ability to lead is so difficult. We are trying to hit a target that we can name but cannot see.

In this message, “Leadership by Design” Jeremy challenges the definitions of leadership that are tied to a job description or personality type but miss the philosophy that moves the leader forward when those things change. We don't do leadership; we are leaders! We were created to make a difference in the lives of those around us regardless of occupation or temperament by living to take them from where they are to where they need to be.

If you are not leading according to your unique talents, abilities, and opportunities, you are not living the life you were created to live. It's time to get up and begin moving forward. It's time to understand Leadership by Design!
