'God's Not Dead' Producer Reveals Details About Next Faith-Based Film

The film “God’s Not Dead” reached widespread success this year, bringing in more than $62 million in revenue worldwide, leading observers to naturally wonder what’s next for Pure Flix, the Christian studio that produced the popular movie.
David A.R. White, the actor and producer who co-founded the company, told TheBlaze Tuesday that Pure Flix is currently preparing to go into production on its next theatrical release called, “Do You Believe?”

While it’s not a sequel to “God’s Not Dead,” the movie, which will have a much larger budget than the $2 million spent on its predecessor, will deal with some similarly heavy faith themes.

“[Do You Believe?"] deals with the power of the cross and the relevancy of the cross in today’s society,” White said. “‘God’s Not Dead’ really dealt with, ‘Is there a God?’ … the next step — as Christians — we believe [God] is Jesus Christ.”

The producer said that the new film will have a “totally different cast” and production team from “God’s Not Dead” outside of some of the key players who work for Pure Flix — and explained that the cast, which will feature some well-known names, is currently under wraps.

“Do You Believe?,” which will be filmed next month in an undisclosed domestic location, is slated for a spring 2015 release, though White admitted that this time line “is a bit ambitious.”

As for a sequel to “God’s Not Dead,” White said that Pure Flix is currently discussing the possibility.

“We’re in early talks about the squeal to that film. We definitely believe that it will go on,” he said. “A lot of the feedback that we received from the first one [centers on the questions], ‘Where do these characters go on to?’ ‘What happens to them after’? We’re taking all that into consideration.”

White said that “God’s Not Dead,” which recently released on DVD, has had amazing staying power and that it “really turned out into a movement versus just a movie,” with the film spending 20 weeks in theaters and selling strong in stores.

“I think our country is hungry for this type of entertainment — this spiritual content that is uplifting their spirits, that is encouraging their faith,” he said.
