As a player and coach Bob Brenly spent twelve years in the San Francisco Giants organization making his Major League debut in August 1981. Bob was named to the 1984 All-Star team and led the 1987 Giants to the National League West Division Title. Bob signed a free agent contract with the Toronto Blue Jays in 1989 and played with the Blue Jays through July. He then rejoined the San Francisco organization in August and finished his playing career in September as a Giant. He retired as a player after the 1989 season. Bob joined Roger Craig's staff in 1992 as bullpen coach for the San Francisco Giants and stayed with the Giants through the 1995 season as a coach on manger Dusty Baker's staff.
