The Slide Deck Improv session was excellent and provided lots of insight into one's real potential. I felt challenged, caught off-guard and inspired to breakout from old habits and limiting beliefs!"
In 2011, Kristen took her first improv class in San Francisco. Today, she combines her professional background - a CPA immersed for a decade in boring presentation delivery - with improv concepts to bring you a more fun way to learn about communication and public speaking. Kristen's mission is to help other professionals do something better with their time in front of a group or when caught off-guard by their boss in the hallway. She has delivered over 100 live presentations and workshops, benefitting thousands of professionals. Her style is energetic and engaging, filling the room with interest and laughter. Kristen graduated from Butler University with a BS in accounting and still holds an active CPA license just for fun. She lives in Michigan with her husband, identical twin sons, and a pair of incongruently sized cats.
Have you ever had to listen to a boring presentation from a colleague or industry leader? Maybe it was a technical update, or an overview of how to a product might benefit you. If you could only understand what those benefits might be through the voluminous information the presenter decided to share.
Technical professionals invest an incredible amount of time learning their craft. We need this dedication, and we need to hear what they have to say. For many professionals though, the thought of presenting their knowledge and opinions, to groups small or large, is daunting. They’re afraid they won’t say the right thing, they worry they’ll look unprepared and they want nothing more than to get that presentation over with.
What’s missing?
How can we help professionals feel more confident and be more effective when speaking to a group?
By helping them understand what to do and how to act: when the script stops working, when they get an unexpected question, or when they really do forget what we’re going to say…in front of everyone.
Using research she’s conducted through her company Slide Deck Improv, Kristen reveals the top public speaking concerns of professionals and shows how improv techniques can provide an antidote to produce more effective and confident communication.
In this authentic, energetic and practical keynote Kristen connects with your audience to help them get comfortable with the uncomfortable through improvisational techniques.
