Josh Deckard is the founder of Hammerstone Capital, an investment company focusing on early-stage opportunities. Hammerstone Capital has made early investments in Airtable, Boll & Branch, Cubcoats, Sir Kensington's, Tecovas, UrbanStems, Mack Weldon, and dozens of other startups. Prior to launching Hammerstone Capital, Mr. Deckard was the Assistant Press Secretary to President George W. Bush. He was the longest-serving member of the press office staff, his tenure spanning from 2002-2007. During his time at the White House Deckard oversaw media operations, including major international summits and addresses to the nation, as well as nationally televised press conferences at the White House, Camp David and abroad. Having traveled nearly a million miles to more than 55 countries with the President, Deckard served as a liaison for the United States government to his counterparts around the globe. Prior to serving as Assistant Press Secretary, he worked in the Chief of Staff's office at The White House. During the 2000 Presidential Campaign, he served as a traveling aide to Republican Vice Presidential Nominee Dick Cheney. Mr. Deckard has worked on, or advised three presidential campaigns. In addition to his leadership at Hammerstone, Deckard is a partner at Fio, a Toronto-based biotechnology company and an advisor to several startup companies including his role as chairman of the advisory board at ONEHOPE Wine, Alton Lane, and SoapBox Soaps. He is a sought after speaker on U.S. and international communications, business, and political issues. A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Deckard studied at the University of Kentucky. Mr. Deckard and his wife, Ali, live in Arlington, Virginia with their four children.
