"It's never too late for you to be who you could have been!" – #Futurist Jim Carroll
You should have no regrets.
For what could have been or for what you could have accomplished. Because you almost always have an opportunity for a redo, a reinvention, a renaissance. You need to shift your mind from regret to opportunity.
Much of this thinking has to do with the direction that you are looking. After all, I'll often point out on stage that "looking back can give you regrets. Looking forward will provide you opportunities!"
So don't look back with in the rearview mirror about the things you could have done -- look to the future and trends for things that you can still accomplish. So much of what we do on a day to day basis has to do with the mindset that we are willing to let prevail!
Reinvention is the root of your personal renaissance. You should always look at your success and failures, and think about what you might be able to do better. Don't let yourself get stuck in a rut with the same old ideas, but continually seek new ones. This type of mind-shift will also help you on the reinvention path.
The future is going to hit you whether you like it or not; it's your approach to it, and how you innovate with it, that defines your future success.
Take inspiration for this journey from those around you. Lately I've been golfing with a new member at my home course. He's 70 years old, in active retirement, and one hell of a great golfer.
He's also taking Spanish lessons, and learning to play the piano.
Why? Because he always wanted to learn Spanish and has always wanted to play the piano! So why not? His mindset is that as enters his later years, it's important for him to keep his mind engaged and active, and so this is one of the things he can do in that regard.
You should take inspiration from this type of mindset – I certainly do. I find myself continually watching for and seeking out stories of people who are reinventing themselves.
It's never too late for you to reinvent yourself. If you do so, you'll be a part of your own personal renaissance.
