Keynote and Breakout
Multiply Excellence in Your School (3 hour session)

As educators, we must regularly ask ourselves: Am I playing an active role in creating a culture of excellence in my school, or am I allowing mediocrity to creep in? It is our job to not only live our own excellence, but to multiply excellence in others, whether it be in colleagues, students, or parents.  School culture is the hidden curriculum that drives a school forward or backward, and when strong relationships and relentless passion are at its root, this is when excellence multiplies. In this presentation, author and education leader, Emily Paschall, supplies the recipe for success in today’s schools by sharing the 4 core principles that lay the framework for a dynamic school culture - Champion for All Kids, Expect Excellence, Carry the Banner, and Merchant of Hope. Emily draws from her own lived experiences, as well as her insight from working in high poverty, low performing schools to ignite you with a renewed energy, passion, and belief that all kids, regardless of circumstances or socio-economic status, can succeed at high levels. By the end of this session, your belief system about what a dynamic school culture is, and what it is not will be firmly molded, and you will not only walk away with practical tips on how to create a culture where everyone takes pride in supporting each other toward excellence, but you will also be filled with the joyful reminder of why you went into education in the first place - for kids.

Keynote
Moving Beyond the ‘Bless Your Heart’ Mentality (1.5 hour session)

Teaching is a hard job, arguably one of the toughest jobs in the world. At times, it seems like all of the plates we are asked to spin each day is completely impossible.  It can be easy to allow excuses to creep in for kids not achieving.

“This student hasn’t made much progress, but bless his heart, he just has a bad home life.”

In this session, Emily relates to the hardships teachers face day in and day out, while simultaneously reminding us that grit and compassion are the two most important traits an effective teacher must hold onto. When we fall prey to allowing difficulties to become an excuse for not giving our everything, we sell ourselves short of ever reaching the mission of education: helping every child reach success. By the end of this session, you will learn how to unlock the key to connecting with all kids, even those who seem unreachable, and you will be ready to retire the overused ‘bless your heart’ phrase and replace it with three powerful, life changing words: ‘whatever it takes’.

Breakout Session
What Does Your School’s Banner Say? (1.5 hour session)

Our school’s banner should be a steadfast reminder that our purpose in education is greater than any challenge that comes our way. Consider your school’s banner. What does it signify? Do you know? Most importantly, does your staff know? A school’s banner should be the mantra that helps to bust through subconscious barriers which exist in a school. How we carry the banner for our school will do one of two things: it will either contribute toward driving our school’s culture forward or backward.

In this session, you will learn how to develop and wave a school’s banner in a way that more effectively impacts kids, teachers, parents, and community members.

One school. One vision. One Banner.

When this happens, this is when you will evoke positive change. This is when you will carry the banner together. This is when you will multiply excellence.
