Dr. David T. Hutchings is a licensed geriatric speech and language pathologist who specializes in geriatric dysphagia and neuropathology. He practiced as the Corporate Director of Speech-Language Pathology for Amedisys Home Health Care where he focuses in program development, clinical education and building the Speech Pathology Program for the company. Currently Dr. Hutchings was promoted to the Area Vice President of Business Development for Rehab in Amedisys. Dr. Hutchings graduated with a Bachelors degree from the University of Mississippi , with a Masters degree from University of Central Missouri and completed his doctoral degree from the Nova Southeastern University with a specialization of geriatric dysphagia and neuropathology. Dr. Hutchings has conducted multiple national lectures across the country in the areas of geriatric swallowing disorders and dementia, teaching continuing education courses in geriatric dysphagia and he has published in peer reviewed journals. Prior to coming to Amedisys in 2006 Dr. Hutchings practiced as a director of rehabilitation in acute and subacute settings, skilled nursing facilities and has experience in dementia evaluation and treatment, modified barium swallowing studies, neuromuscular electrical stimulation and endoscopic examinations.
