Learning Transformed: A PLC Opportunity

This June will mark one year since my coauthor Eric Sheninger and I released Learning Transformed: 8 Keys to Designing Tomorrow’s Schools, Today with ASCD. I feel blessed to say that the response by school leaders has been overwhelming. Eric and I continue to see firsthand the powerful transformation that is occurring in schools and we are encouraged by the innovative practices that are occurring each day. Dynamic educators truly are the solution.

It’s at this time of year when school and district leadership teams often start to prepare their leadership retreats, book studies, and professional learning communities for this summer and into next school year. As we saw evident in the research as we wrote Learning Transformed, the most effective forms of professional learning are engaging, relevant, ongoing, and personal in nature (Key 5). In fact, it’s why we wrote the free study guide for the book; to help school and district leaders cut through the fluff and have on-going, deep conversations around difficult issues, whether it be equity in opportunity, equity in access, ensuring a return on instruction, or how to shift the system as a whole.

What you won’t find in Learning Transformed is a run down of the latest apps, the “coolest” new gadgets, or today’s hottest trends, which all too often mirror recycled versions of low-level pedagogical practices. If you’re looking for those, this is not the book for your team. What you will find however, is evidence and support, from research to practice, surrounding eight key areas needed to redesign the student learning experience. Grounded in research, and scalable in practice, these eight keys outline a pathway for school and district transformation. As we work with school leaders around the world, we continue to hear the need and desire to see what such transformation looks like in practice and it’s why each of the eight keys culminate with one or more “Innovative Practice in Action.” These IPAs, written by the school leaders themselves, display what real change actually looks like in today’s schools and give the needed hope that such change is not only possible, but obtainable.

As your school or district continues to vision and plan your transformation moving forward, Eric and I have planned a series of supports to help you along the way. As such, during the month of April 2018, we will be offering the following:

Order 40 or More Copies and Receive:
– A 30 Minute PLC Kickoff with Tom or Eric
– The Free Study Guide
– 40% off the Learning Transformed Course for your team

3. Tom and Eric will then coordinate schedules with your team for a PLC kickoff in May. (PLC kickoffs by Tom or Eric are limited to the first ten district teams that take advantage of this opportunity.)
4. If interested in the course, discount registration information will be provided in a follow up email.

We trust that you will have an incredible rest of your school year. If we can be of assistance, please reach out and let us know. Keep leading the way.
