Biography
Senator Zell Miller has left an indelible image on American politics. The Democratic Senator’s 2004 keynote address to the Republican National Convention is widely viewed as a pivotal moment in the 2004 presidential race.
Public Service
"In a world filled with plastic and phonies, Zell Miller is the genuine article with the bark still on.”
A public servant at heart, Senator Miller, has filled a number of roles throughout his career: Marine Sergeant, university professor, governor and Senator. As governor of Georgia, he championed educational efforts creating a program to provide free college tuition to all high school graduates with a B or better average. A statewide, voluntary pre-kindergarten program was also put into place.
Known as a tax-cutting governor, Senator Miller brought a common sense style and strong patriotism to his many years in elected office. As the only person to deliver keynote addresses to both Democratic and Republican national conventions, his modest values appeal to members of both political parties.

Your remarks were truly moving, and we enjoyed the themes that you expressed. The standing ovation you received certainly spoke to the emotion of the crowd. Senator, it was truly an honor and privilege to have you and Shirley with us for the evening. We want to thank you for your public service to the State of Georgia as well as to the United States. Having a person of your character share his insights with our industry was a genuine treat. I hope I'll have the opportunity to stop and say hello when passing through Young Harris. Warm Regards,
