Born on April 6, 1945 in Pennsylvania, Boortz and family lived a "typical" military life. The son of a World War II Marine pilot, his places of residence included Hawaii, California, North Carolina, Virginia, Florida and others. Ultimately, the family settled in Florida as Boortz finished high school, and he journeyed to Texas to attend Texas A&M.
The 1960's, Boortz's college years, produced his first foray into radio on the airwaves of WTAW-AM. Your talk was provocative and vibrant as well as controversial! That is no surprise! It made one laugh but at times it enraged one of government and it's antics forced upon us.
