Author of five books, including Stopping at Every Lemonade Stand: How to Create a Culture That Cares for Kids--reviewed by Chinaberry Press as "the best book I've ever read on how to create real change in our kids' lives"--Vollbracht's dynamic and inspiring keynote focuses on the key shifts that need to occur in our culture and how to apply them in our schools, organizations, and communities.As past Director of Search Institute's National Healthy Communities/Healthy Youth Initiative, he has worked with hundreds of schools and communities across North America is focusing on strength based approaches that unleash the potential in youth, staff, parents, community members, and seniors. This dynamic presentation focuses on how to use our untapped resources to build internal safe and connected environments for our schools. Using the "7 Key Asset Approach," participants will discover how when these assets are emphasized, safety and performance increase. The 7 Key Assets include: Safety, Relationships, Appreciation, Youth as Resources, Caring, Parents and Grandparents, and Service, all of which are research based. Participants will hear heart warming stories of how this can be done from early childhood through high school and be given highly practical examples that can be implemented immediately.

In addition, participants will learn:

· The importance of ritual in creating a safe environment

· “Less stress” ideas how to utilize simple and out the box strategiesi.e. having a pet at school, a “silent space” and simple relaxation techniques

· How the 7 key Assets reinforce and enhance a “safe environment”

· Utilizing family and extended family such as “the granny effect” when it comes to learning & a sense of safety

· How kindness, gratitude, and appreciation can become integrated into the day, and youth can be the catylyst
