It's essentially an alumni gathering. We're hosted at Quail West by one of our former Trustees of the College, Ms. Chloe Eichelberger. There is an annual event where our President, George Waldner gives a campus update.Brief description of host organization
York College of Pennsylvania (YCP) is a private liberal arts college in south central Pennsylvania. We have approx. 4600 undergrads and another 400 graduate students. it has only been a 4-year college for about 40 years (previously a junior college). Many of our students are first generation college students for their families.
What is the purpose of your event?
York College update and gathering of alumni and friends of the College.
Why did you select this speaker? What are you hoping your speaker relays to your audience?
We'd love to hear some about Ms. Hoover's book, American Individualism. Also, some commentray on the Republlican primaries to date; some observations about the dynamics of the fall elections. We'd like the remarks to run approx. 45 minutes and we'd like to ask for about 15 minutes of Q & A.

Who will introduce the speaker? (name, title, brief bio)
President George Waldner will introduce Ms. Hoover. President Waldner has been at YCP for 20 years, but just recently announced his retirement, effective June 2013. His undergraduate degree is from Cornell (political science) and his graduate degrees are from Princeton. He is an expert on international relations, in particular, Japan, where he spent some time early in his career.
