
Guy Doud, the 1986 Teacher of the Year (TOY), has inspired millions of educators and administrators with his speeches, books and video materials. The Minnesota native has addressed thousands of organizations from corporate America to the classroom.
The great state of Minnesota has played a major role in the life of Guy Doud. Guy's childhood and youth years were spent in Staples, Minnesota. After graduation from the local high school, he attended Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota graduating summa cum laude in 1975 with his degree in Language Arts. He then moved to Brainerd, Minnesota where he was privileged to instruct as a language arts teacher in the Brainerd School District.
As a high school language arts teacher in Brainerd, Guy received the highest award offered by the education profession: he was selected from more than two and one-half million teachers as the 1986 National Teacher of the Year (TOY) for the United States of America. Furthermore, he was honored at a White House ceremony by then President Ronald Reagan. It was this award and ensuing opportunities that thrust Guy into the national spotlight.
Due to the media attention and success of being chosen as America's Teacher of the Year (TOY), Guy has addressed thousands of groups and organizations. He has been a main platform speaker for the Million Dollar Roundtable, a meeting of America's leading thinkers and speakers, where he was rated as one of MDRT's top speakers of all time. He continues to speak to organizations as varied as the Rural Electric Association to the National School Board Association.
Guy Doud’s universal message deals with things that are most basic to life: love, family, relationships, success and dreaming dreams. His authentic message contains universal appeal to all ages, backgrounds, professions and personalities. Audiences rave because he speaks about things of the heart.
Guy has published five award-winning books, including the best seller, "Molder of Dreams", along with the videos "Teacher of the Year" and "Classroom of the Heart."
Guy Doud received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from Judson College in 1992. He lives in Baxter, Minnesota.
