Gerry McCambridge

His name is Gerry McCambridge. He is a native New Yorker, born on Halloween, October 31st. McCambridge has been a professional Mentalist for over 20 years. At the age of 8, McCambridge was not your typical young child. He found he was a very verbally persuasive individual. He was able to talk people in and out of things with ease. His mother called it the POWER of PERSUASION! Even if he was lying, he had a way of convincing you it was the truth. With skills like those, she always thought he should be a lawyer.

At the same time, Gerry's father was a NYC Detective and an expert at interrogation. He was able to obtain important information from most suspects. Gerry McCambridge would watch his father use his techniques on his older brother and sister and pick up on his skills.

For a brief period, Gerry also studied magic which is the art of visual misdirection. At the age of 12, he performed his first show for money. At the age of 15, Gerry was touring the country as an apprentice for various magic shows and novelty acts learning how to make a living in show business and paying his dues. He decided he did not want to be a career magician.

Gerry McCambridge figured if he combined all his skills, he may have a unique form of entertainment not seen by most. He would use his interrogation skills to remove thoughts from an audience members head, use his persuasion skills to place thoughts into their heads, and use his mental misdirection skills so you would not know it was happening!

He was performing an art form known as mentalism (controlling a persons thoughts) and found it was indeed a unique form of entertainment not performed by many. Unfortunately he found from start to finish the process was very lengthy. Gerry felt that during the process, the audience should continuously be entertained, so he decided to study acting and stand up comedy. Tell the audience interesting stories and make them laugh while the mentalist process was taking place. In the late eighties Gerry toured the east coast for years performing in comedy clubs and night clubs to hone his timing and comedic skills.

While perfecting his stage show, Gerry McCambridge worked at a psychiatric hospital where he studied psychology and hypnosis. He was able to question and discuss the functioning of the human brain with the staff doctors. This gave him more of an understanding of why his manipulative skills worked and aided him in fine-tuning his natural intuitive abilities. Eventually he left his position at the hospital to concentrate full-time on his performing talents.

He has also studied memory techniques, the art of reading body language, linguistics, statistics, law of averages, non-verbal communication and theater.

Being a father of 6, Gerry McCambridge is very conscious of using his skills in a positive and entertaining way. His purpose is to entertain without using any fancy props, violent or sexually suggestive images--just positive, intelligent, and thought-provoking material.

Gerry does not claim to be psychic nor use anything supernatural in his performances. McCambridge uses his abilities purely for entertainment purposes.
