Diem Brown
Biography

At the early age of 23, Diem battled Ovarian Cancer on National television competing on MTV's Real World/Road Rules Challenges. During Diem's treatment she became deeply depressed however in her lowest moment of depression she found an inspirational spark and created an innovative, successful Internet company called MedGift.com that strives to change the way we look at dealing with any medical misfortune.

Born an army brat to an Aussie and an American, Diem has traveled her whole life, but gathering most of her personality fabric from being raised in Roswell, GA. A true Southern Belle: stubborn, persistent but with an undying bleeding heart for those around her. From a young age she loved the idea of being a reporter and learning other people's stories and how everyone has much more in common than most would think. Love, family, hope, fear - these are all the emotions that make the world go round.

While pursuing her degree for broadcast communications she was dealt the first major blow in her life, the tragic and sudden loss of her mother. Although hard, she graduated early to become an entertainment reporter in Los Angeles for the Associated Press, her dream job. However something was missing: she felt like she had grown up too fast, so on a whim Diem decided to try out for MTV's Real World and was cast on MTV's Fresh Meat Challenge.

While training, Diem kept feeling this growing pain in her lower stomach area and ignored it. Every time she would eat the pain would get worse and worse and she noticed some distension, but again she ignored it. Finally after playing a beach game of football with her friends, a sudden hit made her collapse to the ground and feel the most intense pain she could ever imagine. They found the two-liter sized tumor; she had Ovarian Cancer.

While undergoing chemotherapy treatment, Diem created MedGift.com the first and only Patient Gift Registry which works just like a wedding registry but instead of giving a blender to a bride MedGift's focus is on patients of all kinds from Cancer patients to car accident victims. Diem states, "We celebrate the birth of a life with a baby registry, the joining of two lives with a wedding registry why not celebrate the fight for a life with a patient gift registry!"

MedGift's goal is to change the way people deal with the financial and emotional stress of any medical misfortune. A patient can list out their needs and wants while they are in treatment/recovery on their Patient Gift Registry allowing their loved ones an opportunity to help contribute towards the items the patient listed: from medical bills, wigs, groceries to non-monetary items like pet sitting or rides to and from treatment. Diem's story is inspiring and her energy contagious to get up and help those around you!

Diem was featured on AOL's 2012 list of "Top 50 Future Makers," with the "Makers" being women like Oprah and Katie Couric, and the "Future Makers" representing the next group of women ready to make changes. She was the sole representative in the "Health" field. She was also featured in Oprah and Dove's "Real Beauty" campaign with Laila Ali.

Diem is a role model for strength, perseverance and good will. Having a life full of struggle and heartache has not dulled this shinning, charismatic and enlightened young lady. At the early age of 23, Diem already faced death and started up an innovative and successful Internet company that strives to change the way in which we look at health care MedGift.com. An Entrepreneur, she can share how to take an idea and turn it into reality. She also can share how to use the resources around you when developing your dream business.
