Diane Ravitch is a leading author and expert on educational standards and policies. She served as counselor to Secretary of Education Lamar Alexander during the Bush Administration and as co-chair of the Chancellor's Commission on Educational Standards and Accountability in New York City, 1994-95. She was a principal writer of the K-12 California history-social science curriculum, for which she was recognized as an honorary citizen of California.
