"For more than ten years, I allowed my life to be controlled by what others thought of me - how thin I was, what talents I had, how quickly I could climb the corporate ladder... Finally, I came to realize that even when I had accomplished these things, I still wasn't happy..." - Constance Rhodes As a young girl, Constance Rhodes had an ... Read more

It was a complete joy hosting your luncheon today; our employees truly enjoyed your visit. I'm sure you hear this all the time, but it was truly relieving and eye-opening to hear your story. Hearing someone (other than my inner voice) admit to obsessing about their weight... I finally felt like my feelings were not so abnormal and that they could be overcome.

Constance speaks from the heart! While her knowledge of disordered eating and chronic dieting includes thorough research of the topic, what makes her message unique is the way she invites others into her personal experience with honesty and transparency. She is a warm and caring voice for all who struggle to find balance in their approach to eating and self-image.

Eating and Image Issues

Have you ever heard someone talk about disordered eating, and all you could think was ‘Yeah, yeah, I’ve heard this all before”? The truth is, the media, the internet, and our educational systems have done a pretty good job when it comes to informing people about anorexia, bulimia and binge eating. Such a good job, in fact, that many who struggle can name statistics even quicker than the person giving the talk. But all too often, it doesn’t seem to make anything better.

And then there are the millions of people who struggle with non-extreme disorders who are NEVER addressed directly. They hear the talks about more extreme disorders and figure “this doesn’t apply to me.” Never mind the fact that all they can think about is calories, carbs, fat grams, and exercise routines…

A Different Approach

Constance Rhodes is passionate about addressing eating and weight issues in a way that helps people understand and appreciate the emotional, intellectual, physical and spiritual aspects of their struggle. Based largely on personal stories and experiences, her presentations offer vulnerable insights into the world of those who struggle, and provide hope, help and practical tools for breaking free.

Program information:

Unique Aspects

Talks are largely based on personal stories (i.e. less ‘clinical’, more engaging)

Specifically addresses ‘non-extreme' eating disorders/EDNOS (3 out of 5 people have these)

Highly motivational theme: “How are food, weight and image issues keeping you from discovering and pursuing God’s ultimate purpose for your life?”

Theme can be altered to apply to broader audience (i.e. “What obsessions are standing between you and God’s purpose for your life…?”)

Promotes introspection and challenges listeners to take a ‘next step’ toward breaking free

“Talk back” sessions include more stories, PowerPoint and Q&A

Music incorporated where possible/appropriate
