Kevin Johnson
Biography

Kevin Johnson is a businessman, community activist, philanthropist, world-class athlete and former national television personality. Always ambitious and goal oriented, at only 36 years of age, Johnson has received numerous awards and accolades for both his work on and off the basketball court. While all of his accomplishments to date hold a special meaning for him, Kevin Johnson has only begun to make his mark.

As President of two corporations, Johnson currently concentrates on business opportunities and community involvement both in Sacramento, California and Phoenix, Arizona. In Sacramento, Johnson manages St. HOPE Corporation ("SHC"), a non-profit community development corporation designed to expand economic, educational and social opportunities that lead to the revitalization of inner-city communities. Affiliated with SHC are six other separately incorporated non-profit entities, all founded by Johnson and all working in concert to achieve his inner-city objectives. In Phoenix, as President and CEO of The Kevin Johnson Corporation, Johnson oversees the operations of several subsidiary organizations specializing in real estate development and management, sports management and business acquisition. A key component of The Kevin Johnson Corporation includes appearances and public speaking engagements for corporations, academic institutions and community organizations.

Of course, Kevin Johnson is most widely known as a twelve-year veteran of the National Basketball Association. Johnson spent nearly his entire career with the Phoenix Suns and on March 7, 2001 he was inducted into the "Suns Ring of Honor", only the 7th player in franchise history.

On August 8, 2000, Johnson officially retired from the Phoenix Suns and began a new phase of his career by joining NBC as an in-studio analyst for "NBA on NBC" for the 2000-2001 NBA season. In the live pre-game and halftime show, Johnson broke down the latest developments in the NBA and analyzed the televised games. Johnson's in-depth analysis and key perspectives as a former all-star brought a unique element to the broadcast studio.

A graduate of the University of California, Berkeley with a degree in Political Science, Johnson has always been committed to bettering himself. In the fall of 2000, Johnson was admitted to the Masters of Theological Studies Program at Harvard Divinity School, an endeavor he will put on hold for the foreseeable future.

In the summer of 2001, Johnson attended a several week seminar at Harvard University, which focused on faith-based organizations' involvement in inner-city development. The creation of SHC followed this enlightening experience and resulted in the formation of many of his other non-profit organizations.
