Billy Donovan is going into his 11th season as the Head Men’s Basketball Coach for the University of Florida. In 2006 Donovan guided Florida to its first ever men’s basketball national title, winning the 2006 NCAA National Championship. Over the past 2 seasons, Florida won Back-to-Back SEC Tournament Championships (only 2 in UF history). Florida has appeared in 8 straight NCAA tournaments with 8 straight 20-win seasons under Billy Donovan. In the 77 years prior to Donovan’s arrival, the Gators had only appeared in 5 NCAA tournaments and had only 5 20-win seasons. In 1994, at 28 Billy was hired at Marshall, becoming the youngest head coach in NCAA history. Now at age 41 Billy Donovan has solidified himself as one of the premiere NCAA college basketball coaches in the country. Billy Donovan is a tremendous coach and motivator, and will be a staple in college athletics for many years to come. Billy is a graduate of Providence College.
