Creativity, Innovation, Problem Solving... buzz words no longer! To meet the complexities of

communicate effectively, and sustain themselves in a hyper-competitive and ever changing environment.

In today’s world we face technological applications in daily living the likes of which, even a few short years ago, would have been inconceivable. This is a digital age, with interactive devices storing and
recording our life experience and containing overwhelming amounts of knowledge. This has become the
essence of life in the 21st Century, but more specifically the lives of our children. This session will instill
awareness of the importance of the change that is happening today, help educators and organizations
understand and re-evaluate current practice, and to provide guidance in how to make change a “want
to,” not a “have to.

Great leaders and teachers are natural-born storytellers. Without realizing it, we change lives by the
stories we tell, not from the content we dispense. Like weavers, we combine ordinary and significant
events alike into stories that tell us who we are and where we belong in our world. When we answer the
questions, “Why do we need to know this? Why do we “have to” do this work?,” we are telling a story.
This engaging presentation will inspire you to embrace your gift as a storyteller and guide you in the
process of telling new stories.

Emerging technologies and digital platforms have given us a new frontier on which to assert our right, in the words of the Universal Declaration on Human Rights, “to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.”
While the role of technology is vital, it comes with its own limitations. Learners must build on to their current literacies and embrace their role as digital citizens. to leverage the unprecedented opportunities afforded to them in the digital age.

To level the playing field for all, a focus on digital literacy is imperative and is central to the future of every human being. Digital literacy and critical analysis do not naturally emerge because we put devices in students’ hands. Fluency in any language; digital or otherwise, comes from immersion and access to those grounded and fluent in the language. It must be taught explicitly and directly.

Attendees will learn the critical habits and attitudes of a digitally literate person, and a framework for teaching them to students.
