Biography

Marshele Carter Waddell served with her husband, CDR (ret) Mark Waddell, a career U.S. Navy SEAL, for 25 years around the world. Her first two books, Hope for the Home Front: Winning the Emotional and Spiritual Battles of a Military Wife and its companion Bible study, Hope for the Home Front Bible Study (New Hope Publishers 2006), arm other military wives with God's promises of His presence, power and protection. Together with their three children, the Waddells have endured many lengthy separations and frequent deployments for combat duty, special operations training and real world conflicts for more than two decades. Today, her husband is a disabled combat veteran with PTSD and multiple TBIs. Her son recently returned from his second combat tour with Operation Enduring Freedom, Afghanistan, with the 3-7 Marines.Her forthcoming book, Wounded Warrior, Wounded Home: Hope and Healing for Families Living with PTSD and TBI, will be released March 2013 by Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group.TIME Magazine featured the Waddells' story in the November 30, 2009 edition. She has published articles in Today's Christian Woman, Marriage Partnership, Military Spouse Magazine, Virtue, Command, and Military Lifestyle magazines. Marshele is an advocate for veterans' issues at the national level, speaking with U.S. senators and congressmen as well as health councils and organizations regularly on behalf of combat veterans and their families. She has been featured in international, national and local television and radio programs including National Public Radio (NPR), the BBC, LA Times, Washington Post, Fox News, CBN's 700 Club, Focus on the Family's daily radio broadcast, and the Armed Forces Radio Network. She is a contributing author for Moody Publishing's Faith Deployed and Faith Deployed Again: Devotions for Military Wives, and a co-author for Campus Crusade for Christ International Military Ministry's When War Comes Home: Christ-Centered Healing for Wives of Combat Vets (November 2008). Marshele is an international speaker for military, government and women's events. She is the founder and president of Hope for the Home Front, a non-profit 501c3 corporation, based in Fort Worth, TX. She was awarded the Bloomberg Assistantship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is currently pursuing her M.A. in Journalism-Strategic Corporate Communication.
