One of my favorite times of year in my family growing up was Christmas because of the intentional ways my mom cultivated traditions. Join us as we talk about connecting with others over the holidays and maybe you'll get a fun idea or two! Here is my Mom's toffee recipe we talk about in the episode.

ENGLISH TOFFEE

1 cup chopped pecans

1 pound butter

2 cups sugar

2/3 cups brown sugar

4 tablespoons water

Dash salt

1 teaspoon soda

6 to 12 oz. chocolate chips

Mix together all but nuts, soda, and chocolate chips. Cook in a saucepan over medium temperature to 300 degrees using a candy thermometer and stirring often. Add nuts and cook to hard crack. Remove from heat and add soda immediately stirring well. Spread mixture thin on a cookie sheet. Sprinkle chocolate chips edge to edge. Wait a few minutes and then spread thin. Refrigerate. Break into pieces. Makes 3 lbs.

This is an at least a 3 generation recipe. My Mom, her mother and grandmother both made it every Christmas to give friends.
