HK lit up the arena when he walked on stage—one of the most talked-about speakers we’ve ever had.
At some point, many of us may be faced with making choices that impact an untold number of lives forever. HK Derryberry's maternal grandmother had such a choice on Sunday morning July 8, 1990 following an automobile accident that left her pregnant nineteen year-old daughter brain dead. After placing her daughter on life-support the doctors at Vanderbilt University Medical Center gave the grandmother little hope her unborn three month premature grandson would survive. The grandmother's choice...let the unborn child go with his mother or deliver him...knowing, if he lives, he'll be faced with a life-time of significant medical issues requiring long-term personal care.
HK and friend and mentor, Jim Bradford, share emotional...humorous...true stories about HK's triumph over insurmountable odds including blindness, cerebral palsy and being abandoned by his father at age five to achieve accomplishments once thought unattainable even by some young people without disabilities. Their presentation is customized for each event.
