Actress & Advocate April Hernandez-Castillo To Speak At NCADV Conference On Ending Violence

 

Bronx, NY ~ SAG nominated, April Hernandez-Castillo will be a keynote speaker at the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence conference on "Ending Violence" in Denver on July 25th at 10:00 am MT.

Fans of April will remember the Puerto Rican, Bronx, NY native from her role as Evita Benitez, in the acclaimed filmFreedom Writers and for her SAG nominated role as Cira Manzon in Showtime's award-winning series Dexter. She recently co-starred with Jim Caviezel in CBS's hit drama, Person of Interest and co-stars in the soon-to-be released movie Officer Down alongside James Wood and David Boreanaz.

In 2009, April performed on stage off Broadway in the controversial play about domestic violence, The Death of a Dream. In October of 2011, she launched the L.O.V.E Walk to help encourage those who are in abusive relationships and is an advocate for those who have been abused. Her passion for ending violence comes from personal experience, overcoming an abusive relationship when she was younger, emerging with a renewed self-worth and respect enabling her to use her celebrity to help others. April aims to raise awareness to the prevention of Domestic Violence and inspiring people to conquer their fears and discovering their true voice. She encourages both women and men to come to the conference.
