Married in 1982, Steve worked as a graphic designer earning $6.50 per hour. Annette stayed home to take care of their baby. Over time, on an average income of just $35,000 they purchased and paid off a four-bedroom house. Prior to writing their best-selling books, Steve spent 23 years working with Fortune 500 companies as an advertising account executive and Annette was a stay-at-home mom to their five kids. Together they ran a successful volunteer crisis financial coaching organization, helping scores of families learn to better manage their personal finances. This outreach became the basis for their books.
