A public servant at heart, Senator Miller, has filled a number of roles throughout his career: Marine Sergeant, university professor, governor and Senator. As governor of Georgia, he championed educational efforts creating a program to provide free college tuition to all high school graduates with a B or better average. A statewide, voluntary pre-kindergarten program was also put into place.

Known as a tax-cutting governor, Senator Miller brought a common sense style and strong patriotism to his many years in elected office. As the only person to deliver keynote addresses to both Democratic and Republican national conventions, his modest values appeal to members of both political parties.

Personal Life

Senator Miller’s and wife, Shirley, simple approach to living is best illustrated by the home they share – Senator Miller’s childhood cabin. He captured their lives best in his musical composition, “Everywhere I've Ever Been Was On My Way Back Home.” The Miller’s are surrounded by a large family including grand and great-grandchildren, yet he is rarely found without their two yellow labs.

Since leaving the Senate, he has authored a book, spoken for charitable organizations and contributed to the Fox News Channel.
