Neal’s keynote is filled with solid content, delivered masterfully and filled with valuable lessons from life experiences and from the heart.

Neal’s keynote presentation is a first person story about growing up in Apartheid South Africa with challenges; his were physical, financial, and political. He has faced and overcame hurdles most of us cannot imagine. Being born physically challenged with only one hip joint and “colored” in a working class family during South Africa's racist era, Neal was the least likely person to become an international yachtsman, especially in a perceived "white, wealthy and elite sport." . His dream was to have his own yacht, and to race across the world's toughest oceans, and eventually alone around the globe. Critics said that he could not do it. Neal persevered, overcoming his handicap, working hard and saving the money that would give him the means to eventually design and build his own boat, and at age 31, he raced 27,000 miles alone around the world via the Southern Ocean and Cape Horn, in the “Around Alone Race” to become one of less than 300 people in the history of humanity to achieve this feat - all in a home built boat!
