Neal Boortz energizes GOP base at Lincoln Day Dinner Gala in Daytona Beach [VIDEO]

Headline Surfer videos by Sera Frederick / The pageantry of the Lincoln Day Gala Dinner on Friday night at the Daytona Beach Hilton is just as much a part of the event as the speeches by GOP stalwarts like Stan Escudero, shown here in the second video, and the main speaker, conservative talk show host Neal Boortz as shown in the photo below.

DAYTONA BEACH -- More than 550 Republican Party enthusiasts attended Friday night's Lincoln Day Gala Dinner to show their support for the Volusia County GOP's big fundraiser and the insightful wit of the featured speaker, conservative talk show host Neal Boortz.

They showed their patriotic spirit with a color guard, an array of flags led by the American flag, the pledge of allegiance and a slide show presentation as a backdrop images from 9/11, many showing New York City's firefighters and cops dealing with rescue and despair.

The first image was the most powerful -- showing the first American Airlines plane strike into one of the Twin Towers.

"The good people of Volusia County are stirred up -- they've had enough of bad government in Washington, they've had enough of bad government in DeLand," Said Stan Escudero, the executive director of the Republican Party, "And they are here to rise up and put things right and that's why we're tonight."

Boortz gave the party loyalists what they wanted -- a good ol' fashioned beat-down on Democrat Barack Obama's first term in office.

Boortz dismissed Obama as a "communist, though with trepidation of the term being dismissed as a label.
"I know from 42 years of experience on the radio, you start yelling 'Communist, communist,' they think, 'Oh, he's a nut job.'"
Boortz then hit that label as a true application, saying, "Barack Obama told us from the beginning what he is."
The talk show host referred to the president's book, "Dreams To My Father," that he had a job in the private sector for six months, in which he described his job as "working behind enemy lines."

"He called the private sector the enemy," Boortz said with emphasis.
