Statement on the New Ronald Reagan Statue

By Michael Reagan, Posted June 4th, 2009

Former President Ronald Reagan was honored Wednesday with the unveiling of a bronze statue of the 40th President in the U.S. Capitol.

Reagan's oldest son, Michael, released the following statement:

"I am very touched and proud that my father, Pres. Ronald Reagan, is being honored in such a fitting way at the U.S. Capitol. I wish I could have been in Washington, D.C. for the wonderful event today in Statuary Hall, but I had a previous commitment and could not attend.

On behalf of myself and my children—Pres. Reagan's grandchildren—I offer my deepest gratitude to those who have arranged for his statue to be unveiled only a few short days from the fifth anniversary of his passing (June 5th). I look forward to visiting this special place soon and often with my family."
