Michael McMillan was not just the keynote speaker at our recent BRAIN CAMP, in Minneapolis. He was a part of the group, an active participant in numerous activities and an inspiration to us all. The goal of our event was to teach the group how to look at things differently. Michael gave example after example of how to do just this and left us with a critical nugget: ‘Think about how you can make your problem your solution.’ I would recommend him to anyone who calls. Thanks so much. I truly enjoyed Michael and his perspective during our photo session. We discussed some of the things he brought out during his session while looking for the best picture for risk, success, and enthusiasm. I also enjoyed his session... I could relate which is sometimes hard for me in my position. Michael was though provoking, insightful, and engaging. His willingness to participate in our sessions during the day after speaking shows his genuine interest and passion for his thinking and philosophy. I rarely remember what most speakers say during their talks, and in most cases, as soon as the speech is over, I'm thinking about sales/district issues/etc... but with Michael, I can remember almost everything he said. The main reason was it was a story... a personal experience, something we all could relate to. Just a couple of comments to pass along to Michael... one is that I was in a farm and fleet store just a few days after our Brain Camp. While looking around the store, I came upon a display of large red plastic bats... just like the one in Michael's new upcoming book. If I had his address, I would have sent him the one. Like I said above, I remembered and his stories did have an impact on the way I look at things now... In this current world environment Los Angeles County, like other government entities, is looking for ways to motivate and energize our workforce to improve accountability and performance. The presentation offered by Michael McMillan hit the nail on the head. The concepts of the “Circle of Change” and taking risks resonated profoundly with the audience. Authentic. Thought-provoking. Energetic. Michael McMillan’s presentation at the HAVI-wise Leadership event gave me several new perspectives and powerful questions that inspired me to NOT play by “the rules,” but create my own. Michael jolted me out of a comfortable spot and engaged me in a renewed sense of purpose... to leave my leadership fingerprint on the world.
